Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has asked Capital Development Authority to allocate a piece of land in Sector I-11 for establishment of a state-of-the-art driving school of international standard, the official sources said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Islamabad Zubair Hashmi has already apprised the CDA for the provision of a piece of land for proper training of candidates forwarded by National Vocational Technical Education Commission (Navtec).
The Navtec has been established in Prime Minister's Secretariat (Public) to promote technical education and vocational training in the country following the directions of Prime Minister. The Commission co-ordinates, prepares, devises and reviews policy direction for technical education and vocational training. The purpose is to prepare skilled work force so that trained workers could earn their livelihood in a dignified way.
The Navtec was directed to start driving courses under PM's special initiative scheme and ITP had accepted the responsibility to train drivers in its driving school.
In this regard, memorandum of understanding was signed between ITP and Navtec authorities, which states that ITP will train the candidates dully forwarded by Navtec in its driving school. The trainers have to attend lectures regarding road safety, traffic signals and signs, different mechanical system of vehicles and environmental safety principles.
