The politicians, including Benazir Bhutto, claim that they could not deliver during 1990-99 era because entire power did not vest in them but instead they had to share the power with the armed forces.
Has the current situation improved that she is now inclined to share power with General Musharraf? She leaves no stone unturned to please USA because the perception is that USA is brokering a deal between Ms Bhutto and the General enabling her to join the rule.
In this context, the latest card to please USA thrown up by her is that she will provide access to International Atomic Energy Agency to interrogate A.Q. Khan. This is the situation which was resisted by General Musharraf over the last several years. If the ensuing democracy is intended to bring such surrenders on the vital national issues, the nation will feel complacent with the dictator.
