Recently, the Opposition leaders were all praise for the judiciary terming it independent, free and upholding justice and truth. But the other day, MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmad used tough and rough language against the judiciary while addressing a gathering in Islamabad.
This means as long as the superior judiciary listens to the Opposition point of view and duly entertains in this or that case, it is independent, free to dispense justice in accordance with the Constitution and law of the land otherwise their opinion changes overnight. Qazi Hussain Ahmad's call to the people to come out on the roads in Islamabad left much to be desired.
The politicians and the civil society in general and the lawyers community in particular had protested against the Presidential Reference and supported Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry because they believed the CJP was right.
By mentioning this support the MMA chief only tried to pressurize the country's apex court hearing his petition as well as of Imran Khan's and others against the President holding two offices. Casting aspersions is very much unfair on the part of a politician like him and smacks of hostility towards judiciary.
If the politicians consider it their birth right to criticize General Pervez Musharraf, the government and even the judiciary then they should also be ready to welcome criticism from others on one account or the other without losing temper.
Politicians should have heart and withstand the criticism irrespective from where it is coming. One may ask the Opposition leaders as to who has given them the right to criticize everyone on the other side of the fence left and right and then start losing temper when they are criticised for their misdoings here and there.
