Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has described the election of Pervez Musharraf as President, the victory of the people as it will help in smooth transfer of power and strengthening of democracy further.
Talking to media in his Assembly Chamber on Saturday afternoon, after completion of the polling here, he said the Government has gained in these elections as Pervez Musharraf has won more votes against 99 votes cast in his favour when he (Musharraf) had sought vote of confidence from Sindh Assembly.
He criticised the opposition parties for alleged "dual" standard in the national politics and on national issues. They decided to resign from the Assemblies when these institutions had almost completed their tenure. Why they did not resign from the Senate, he questioned.
"PPP leaders welcome all, what they see good for them. They have been crying otherwise," he remarked. He held Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal responsible for the National Reconciliation Ordinance suggesting that had MMA not decided to resign, there would not have any need for such an Ordinance.
