Symposium on "doing business in South Asia" has called for a more liberal visa regime, better transport links and harmonisation of standards in the region to promote intra-regional trade. One-day symposium, which discussed constraints and impediments, was organised by the Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on October 4 at New Delhi.
According to FPCCI here Saturday, the symposium also recommended to refrain from country specific discriminatory trade. The detailed recommendations will be presented by SCCI at the meeting of commerce secretaries of Saarc, proposed to be held in December 2007.
President SCCI Ugen Tsechup Dorji lauded the recent movement of cross border trucks between India and Pakistan through Attari check post and added that SCCI support such steps which will promote regional trade. FPCCI delegation also presented papers on Pakistan-Bangladesh and India-Pakistan-Sri Lanka trade.
