The Pakistan Chemist and Retailers Association (PCRA) postponed their general strike call between October 6 and 21 against the Punjab Drug Rules 2007 after a string of negotiations with Punjab Health Department officials.
Under the chairmanship of the health minister in which they accepted some of their demands raised by the members of Pakistan Chemist and Retailers Association, said by Bawazada Ishaq Mayo Chairman Pakistan Chemist and Retailers Association.
While addressing the press conference Ishaq Mayo demanded the cancellation of Punjab Drug Rules 2007 and for the restoration of Punjab Drug Rules 1988 because the rules have been made to promote the chain of pharmacies and the medical stores have been debarred to sell these medicines, thus supporting the business of chain pharmacies.
He said that Association was ready to help the government in framing and improving the present pharmaceutical set up in Punjab in larger public interest. Ishaq Mayo thanks Secretary Health Punjab for sending a summary of suspension of Punjab Drug Rules 2007 to the competent authority for immediate action and as an interim relief to Chemist Community of Punjab.
He also thanked for constituting a new committee to review Punjab Drug Rules 2007. He also said that they would announce their next plan of action after October 21 if their demands were not met according to the negotiations.
