Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan Niazi Sunday said presidential candidate Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed (retd) should take back his constitutional petition against President Musharraf as it hurts sentiments of people and parliamentarians alike.
Talking to private channel he said Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed (Retd) does not prove the support of even his proposer and seconder. The comprehensive defeat inflicted on Wajihuddin proves that he is devoid of parliamentarians as well as people's support.
Therefore he should not hurt the sentiments of countrymen by indulging in unnecessary legal war. Almost entire parliament and provincial assemblies have voted unanimously for President Musharraf and reposed their confidence for the sake of prosperous Pakistan, he said.
Judiciary being a national institution should keep in mind the sentiments of Pakistanis while deciding on the petition filed by Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed (Retd). He termed the allegations of ineligibility being hurled on the president as out of question because parliament has already allowed him with two thirds majority to keep both offices till November 16 2007.
