High Court of Sindh on Monday issued notice to Sindh Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on charge of contempt of court and ordered him to appear before five-member bench.
The order was passed by Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany on reports from Registrar of SHC dated 2nd and 4th October about the wall-chalking and banners in SHC compound and City Courts compounds with remarks against judiciary by some unknown persons and the comments by the Chief Minister reported in Sindh daily "Kawish" on October 3 that "it was reaction from the public."
The court has ordered the CM to appear before five-member SHC bench for "Katcha Peshi" and explain his position. "Your remarks on prima face amount to contempt of the court," the court observed.
The order further said, in case of failure to appear, the matter would be decided in absence. The bench would comprise Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Moosa K Leghari and Justice Zia Pervez.
