Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday said there is no hurdle in talks with Chairperson Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto and every thing is going in right direction. Talking to a private television the minister said he has been confirming for the last one year that an understanding is talking place with PPP.
Now, under that understanding the party (PPP) would abstain from voting in Presidential election, but would not resign from assemblies, he added. Sheikh Rashid said Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and its allied parties have enough votes to re-elect the president and there is no need of any other party's votes, "but we need PPP co-operation for the credibility of the election."
He said Benazir would participate in the upcoming general elections and all other things would be decided after the elections. To a question about the Article 58 (2) (b) of the constitution, the minister said "It will remain as it is." When asked about the no-existence of any documented understanding, he said lawyers from both the sides had examined the manuscript and it would appear after the necessary vetting.
