Wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade climbed to session highs at midday on Thursday on bullish export news and ahead of a monthly USDA report on Friday, traders said. Buying by local traders amid a lack of sellers drove prices up, with front-month December rising above Tuesday's high.
As of 12:09 pm CDT (1709 GMT), December wheat was up 24 cents, nearly 3 percent, at $8.77 per bushel. Kansas City Board of Trade December wheat was up 21-3/4 cents at $8.78 and Minneapolis Grain Exchange December spring wheat was up 23-1/4 at $8.84.
