In accordance with the formula prescribed by the government, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has notified that maximum ex-depot sale prices of the following products will remain unchanged, effective from October 16, 2007, says a notification issued here on Saturday.
Motors spirit Rs 53.70 per liter, HOBC Rs 64.88 per liter, kerosene oil Rs 35.23 per liter and light diesel oil Rs 32.57 per liter. It requires that the prices be based on average Arab-Gulf prices for the last fortnight for naphtha, diesel, kerosene, and HSFO to which inland freight equalisation marginal (Ifem) is added, which reflects estimated transportation cost of the products to the 29 depots in the country, for the purpose of price equalisation. The government levies like excise duty, petroleum development levy, and sales tax are added to arrive at the notified prices.
The spokesman said the government is providing a subsidy of Rs 9.18 per liter on kerosene oil. Similarly, the subsidy of Rs 9.03 is given on light diesel oil for the benefit of common man. Detailed computations for the above prices are placed at the Ogra website (www.ogra.org.pk).
