Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday reiterated that assemblies would complete their term and a countrywide programme is being chalked out to celebrate the historic achievement. Assemblies would be dissolved before November 15, he said while talking to newsmen here at PM House.
The Prime Minister said it would be for the first time in 60 years that the assemblies would be completing their mandated tenure and therefore, it would be an occasion to celebrate.
The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that people of Pakistan would make a right choice during the forthcoming general elections. He said the PML and its allied parties have best candidates to win the elections. In addition, the government has in its credit the welfare and development-oriented policies that raised standard of living of the people.
The Prime Minister said the present government gave the country good governance, worked for better of every segment of the society and gave media unprecedented freedom.
He said they want to take the development process to further heights and this requires continuation of the policies.
Replying to a question Shaukat Aziz said the government believes in promotion of democratic values and reconciliation and for this purpose the government is open to contacts with all parties including PPP and PML(N).
To a question he said the government would contact the PPP leader on her return to Pakistan. To another question he said neither the government nor the PML was afraid of her return. The Prime Minister said Eid is an occasion of reflection and we should share its joys with have-nots.
He said it was in this spirit that the doors of the PM House have been opened for the poor, destitute and under-privileged people on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Fitr. "This shows that we have not forgotten people on the occasion" he said.
