Price of tomatoes has reached above Rs100 per kg due to short supply and adverse weather conditions. General Secretary Falahi Anjuman Wholesale Vegetable Market Karachi Haji Abdul Rauf Tanoli told a private channel that the rains in Sukkur and Balochistan three months ago had badly affected crop of tomatoes after which there has been a shortage of the commodity.
He further told that the per kg price of tomatoes in wholesale market has increased from Rs60 to Rs120. A record increase of Rs90 in its price was seen during the last one week.
He said that supply of tomatoes to Karachi from various areas of Balochistan, Khuzdar, Ferozeabad, Naal, Awaran, Arnaj and Lasbella has been badly affected due to which a trend of increase in prices is being witnessed.
