Provincial Health Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal has said that drastic steps have been taken for weeding out the menace of "Quackery" from grassroots level in the Punjab. Talking to Business Recorder here on Monday afternoon, he said.
The under the programme qualified doctors were being appointed at union council level in the Punjab aimed at providing better health services to the masses at their doorstep. The programme ultimately would help vanishing the quackery and people would be able to get better treatment facility.
Replying to a question, Provincial Health Minister revealed that all basic health units (BHUs) and rural health centres (RHCs) had been activated for ensuring the provision of quality health facilities to the masses in their respective areas.
An action "Health for All" had already initiated for extending enhanced medical treatment facilities to the masses of rural and urban areas evenly in Punjab, Chaudhry Iqbal said.
The Health minister was of the opinion that the government had done a lot for the improvement of health services and focused special attention on the activation of BHUs and RHCs in the Punjab.
Answering to another question, the Punjab Health minister said that apart from this under the plan special attention had been focused on the improvement of government hospitals functioning at Tehsil and district headquarters in the Punjab.
The government was utilising more than Rs 3.50 billion on the provision of medicines and improvement of RHCs and BHUs for ensuring maximum health cover to the masses at their doorstep in the Punjab, he disclosed. Chaudhry Iqbal said special step had also been taken for setting up "Burn Units" in all government hospitals besides adequate arrangements were being made for improving the functioning of emergency wards in the Punjab.
The sole aim of the government was to lessen the travelling difficulties of the people and ensure the medical cover to the masses at their doorstep, he added.
