Plan for local government system in Northern Areas approved

President Pervez Musharraf has approved a plan to establish local government (LG) system in Northern Areas and a framework order will be issued soon, reported a private TV channel. This was decided in a meeting chaired by the President on Saturday.
The Federal Minister for Kashmir and Northern Areas Major Tahir Iqbal (Retd) briefed the meeting about the plan to establish local government (LG) system in Northern Areas. The deputy Chief Executive Mir Gazanfar Ali was also present in the meeting.
According to reliable sources, the President Pervez Musharraf ordered Federal Minister for Kashmir and Northern Areas to finalise the frame work order and put it in the next meeting for approval. He said the local government system is being extended to Northern Areas to raise the living standard of the people of that area.
