Two international tax consultants guided the tax officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on the 'change management' issues for speedy implementation of Tax Administration Reform Program (TARP).
Sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday that the two days workshop was chaired by FBR Chairman M. Abdullah Yusuf and attended by all members and director generals of the reformed units.
The sessions were organised by the FBR Human Resource Management (HRM) Wing to obtain input from foreign consultants on reforms. The lectures of international experts mainly focused on strategy to set priorities under the reform plan.
The concepts on change management decision, problem resolving and other issues relating to TARP were discussed in the meeting. The lecture, which started early in the morning continued till late night, which was patiently heard by tax authorities. Sources said that decision making and action planning would be done on the second day of the working session on Wednesday (today).
During the workshop, tax officials applied new change management techniques to ensure that the reforms are not placed at risk. The workshop was conducted by Gordon Gullan, who is currently running a highly successful Management Development Programme for the Egypt Customs Authority, and come to FBR with excellent credentials as an international expert in action-centred senior management development.
He was assisted by Alan Gilmour, who is already known to the FBR. Member HRM Muhammad Talha acted as chief co-ordinator of the workshop. The workshop will provide action-centred learning interwoven with a mid-term overview of Tarp, sources added.
