The Sindh home department will not make any changes in the investigation team formed to ascertain facts behind the October 18 blasts in the procession of Benazir Bhutto, sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday.
The investigation team was constituted after the midnight carnage of October 18, in which 141 persons were killed and hundreds other injured when two bombs exploded in the rally of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on the arrival of its leader.
Sources said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has showed dissatisfaction over the police official heading the investigation team, but Sindh home ministry refused to make changes as per aspirations of the PPP. Sindh CM's Adviser on home Waseem Akhtar, while talking to Business Recorder on Tuesday said the government would not take dictation from anyone else.
"Our team is investigating the October 18 blasts, and is in search of facts behind the tragic incident so there is no chance to make any change in the team comprising experienced officials of the department", said Waseem Akhter.
The adviser said the provincial government would adopt all necessary steps to remove concerns raised by the PPP leaders, but no one has any right to dictate the government.
Sources also said the PPP took exception to DIG (Investigation) Manzoor Mughal and DIG Majeed. The investigation team comprising DIG (Investigation) Manzoor Mughal, DIG Majeed, SP (Investigation East) Dr Aamir Shaikh, SP (Investigation South) Niaz Ahmed Khuso, SP Anti-Violent Crime Unit Farooq Awan, and CID SP Raja Ummer Khatab, the sources said.
Sources also said the government had also rejected the demand for seeking help from international experts, which was made by PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, who also demanded for enlisting experts from UK and US.
