Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) will hold its Annual Meeting in Karachi from March 25th to 27th, 2008. The event will be attended by the governors of central banks of IFSB member countries, other IFSB members, foreign dignitaries and local luminaries.
This provides Pakistan's Islamic Banking Industry an excellent opportunity to showcase its progress at an international level while gaining insight into international experiences and fostering bonds with global players for greater collaboration.
This was announced in a statement after a joint meeting of State Bank of Pakistan and leading Islamic banks at Meezan Bank Head office here on Thursday. The meeting was presided over by Mr Pervez Said, Head of Islamic Banking Department, State Bank of Pakistan and was attended by representatives of Meezan Bank Ltd, Emirates Global Islamic Bank, Bank Albarka, Bank Islami Pakistan and Dawood Islamic Bank.
The meeting discussed various ways of organising the three-day annual meeting of Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) that would include several workshops, standing committee meeting, council meeting, sixth general assembly, public lecture, interactive session and fifth international seminar on the challenges facing the independence of Shari'ah supervisory boards.-PR
