The Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop presents Saanjh 2007, the Lahore-Amritsar Festival, and the largest non-political peace initiative by an arts organisation. The festival will conduct on 27 October and will be participated by renounced artists, including Sorraya Khanum, Arif Lohar, Areeb Azhar, Akmal Qadri, and Waris Ali Ballo.
The troupe will be led by Usman Peerzada, and also the Management team of Sohrab Khan, Riaz Khan Jailani, Usman Fazal and Anum Peerzada. The festival will be held in two phases the first phase held in Lahore and the second one in Amritsar.
Saanjh aims to promote peaceful relations between the cultures of India and Pakistan. It strengthens equality, justice, freedom, and dialogue between individuals. People of various walks of lives will attend the event.
Saanjh Festival will inspire other NGOs to take similar initiatives for peace through the arts, especially through music and theatre. The festival helps bridge the gap between the two Punjabs by providing a platform for artists from both sides to interact. It is committed to promoting Punjabi language and literature, also fostering better understanding in the region, which is divided by geographical boundary, but united through a common culture.
