The Punjab government has earmarked Rs 1,431 million for on-going and new projects for the livestock sector in 2007-08 starting with building veterinary hospitals at the every union level and mobile veterinary dispensary at the tehsil level.
"This will help provide services to livestock farmers at their door steps," said parliamentary secretary for livestock Chaudhry Khalid Nabi who was addressing a "cow mela" arranged by the institution for protection of the "Sahiwal cow" in Faisalabad.
He urged scientists to carry out research to provide balanced diet for animals and increase the milk and meat production. A livestock and dairy development department spokesman said different companies, institution for research of livestock promotion and others set up their stalls at this fair for dissemination of information amongst livestock farmers.
