Active business was seen on the grain market on Thursday despite higher trend in the prices, causing by an abrupt rise in the oil price in the international market, dealers said.
On the seed side, several changes were seen as rapeseed Dadulane low type was up by Rs 100 to Rs 1200 while better quality did not show variation in process of trading at Rs 1,300, they said, adding oilcakes followed the suit and gained Rs 5 to Rs 495 - Rs 500.
Cottonseed oilcake with bag new low type was lower by Rs 25 to Rs 675 and better type was also lower by Rs 30 to Rs 700, cotton oilcake with bag new type good type was down by Rs 50 to Rs 550, while inferior type did not show any change at Rs 500, they said.
On the rice sector, Irri-white inferior type was up by Rs 50 to Rs 1,550 and good type was higher by Rs 75 to Rs 1,600, other types maintained the overnight levels, they said.
On the cereal side, wheat old and new both picked up Rs 25 to Rs 1,575 and Rs 1,590, respectively. Several other commodities were unmoved during the modest trading, they said.
On the gram side, gram garda Punjab was up by Rs 75 to Rs 2,750 - Rs 2,850, gram garda dall Punjab followed the same pattern and picked up Rs 50 to Rs 3,200 - Rs 3,300, they said.
Yellow peas Canada inferior type was up by Rs 10 to Rs 2,550 while the best type did not move any side at Rs 3,050, they added. Yellow peas dal Canada was higher by Rs 25 to Rs 2,925 and good type was up by Rs 50 to Rs 2,850, they said. Beetle Chana No 1 followed the same trend and picked up the same amount at Rs 2,925 - Rs 3,050, beetle 50x50 good type was up by Rs 25 to Rs 2750 while the better type was unchanged at Rs 2,850, they added.
