Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday approved the induction of 200 assistant locomotive drivers in Pakistan Railways on emergency basis. The PM gave formal approval to this effect during a meeting with Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed at PM Secretariat.
Pakistan Railways is confronted with shortage of drivers due to non-induction of fresh drivers for the last many years. Keeping in view the daily operations of Pakistan Railways that also includes running of over 250 passenger and freight trains on daily basis, it was needed to induct human resource in the form of assistant locomotive drivers.
