More than one hundred rickshaw drivers along with their CNG rickshaws took out a protest rally here on Friday against providing them sub-standard CNG rickshaws under the President Rozgar Scheme. The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the government and highlighting the looters' plan.
Addressing the protest demonstration at front of City District Government Offices, Rana Shahid Hussain President and Muhammad Irshad General Secretary, Rickshaw Drivers Association of CNG rickshaws alleged that the government was playing in the hands of some monopolists in the country, who were running "President Rozgar Scheme" and providing sub-standard rickshaw at high cost to the poor and needy persons.
Rickshaw drivers also blocked the Katchery road and chanted slogans against the government and the "President Rozgar Scheme" managers. Leaders of the Association demanded to the government that sub-standard richshaws should be replaced at the cost of manufacturers and delay time period should also be charged from the responsible persons. They also marched on the city road and dispersed peacefully.
