Central Vice Chairman of PPP Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani categorically denied that Central Executive Council (CEC) of the PPP has suggested to party Chairwoman Benazir Bhutto not to return to Pakistan from Dubai, in case the government should proclaim an emergency in the country.
Talking to a group of newsmen on Friday that Benazir Bhutto would surely comeback and she would address the public meeting at Liaquatbagh on November 9. He said that CEC has termed the attack on the "Karwan-e-Jamhooriat"(Caravan of democracy) on October 18 as a brutal attempt to block the path of peaceful transition to constitutional democracy, which the PPP has been following with all determination and courage.
He said that our 158 workers martyred and 535 injured and Party would compensate them besides looking after their families and children. For this purpose we had established a fund and well to do persons in the party were depositing the donations/contribution generously in this account. He said that we cannot forget these workers who had created history by showing extraordinary courage and devotion in the face of death.
He said," I salute their extreme sacrifice reaffirm that it was on account of dedicated and brave political workers like them that the party has been able to withstand all onslaughts by dictatorships and the vested interests."
He said that the turnout of more than 3 million people to receive their leader was a total rejection by common Pakistanis of the negative propaganda. The misinformation campaign that had been carried out for months by the anti-people elements and agents of dictatorship, and it was also an expression of confidence, and faith in the policies of Benazir Bhutto by political activists. Syed Yousaf Raza opposed the imposition of emergency in the country describing it an escape from election by the ruling party.
