Punjab government has provided a lot of incentives to farmers to ensure their welfare and prosperity, said Hassan Akhtar Moakal, provincial minister for Public Health Engineering.
Addressing a gathering at an open kutchery in Kanganpur near here on Saturday, he said that the government, on the directive of Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi had given 5-marla plots to 114,000 shelterless families and allotted 100,000 acres land to 8,000 landless farmers during last five years.
Apart from this, he said, farmers possessing less than 12.5 acres land have been exempted from agriculture income tax, which has benefited 98 percent farmers of the province.
He said that the Agriculture Marketing Department, set up by the government, was playing due role to help the farmers in obtaining reasonable price for their produce. The minister heard public problems and complaints, and issued necessary written and verbal orders for their redressal.
