The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has registered a case against 10 people, including former Tehsil Nazim Arifwala Ameer Hamza Rath and two of his brothers for getting a commercial market constructed on state land illegally.
Former tehsil regulation officer Ghulam Mustafa Dogar, currently working as Tehsil Municipal Officer, and other nine people are facing charges of illegally building a commercial market made up of 62 shops on state land and giving these to their favourites and subsequently selling each shops for Rs 1.5 million. The ACE asserted of foiling an attempt of indirect loss of Rs 725 million to the government kitty.
Director General Muhammad Aslam Ghuman acted following a tip-off that Rath and his brothers Iftekhar Ahmed and Ali Imran had occupied the state land and illegally set up a commercial market made up of 62 shops.
The men formulated an auction committee who instead of open auction allotted all the shops to councillors and favourites for political gains while sitting in the drawing room. People receiving the shops had never applied for them and some never known about the allotment.
The men got bogus power of attorney and occupied four shops converted into an inter-city wagon stop. Some are selling each shop for Rs 1.5 million apart from the fact that the land belongs to state and the whole process of construction and allotment of these shops was illegal.
Later an inquiry reportedly revealed that all the illegal process was completed in connivance of officers posted in that period and it was an attempt to indirect loss of Rs 725 million to the government kitty.
ACE registered case against 10 people including former tehsil nazim Arifwala Ameer Hamza Rath, his brothers Iftekhar Ahmed Hasan and Ali Imran, former assistant commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Dogar and former tehsil regulation officer Wali Muhammad.
