Water and Power Authority (WAPDA) will spend Rs 718 million to electrify 86 villages in District Dera Bugti and Sui Balochistan. According to the Wapda and Power ministry sources Quetta Electricity Supply Company (QESCO) would execute the project, which would be complete in one year from start of work.
The sources said that the project envisages electrification of about 36662 house hold by electrifying 86 villages. The sources added that the project companies to install 33KV, 11KV and LT lines and other allied equipment and necessary civil works.
The sources said that the QESCO stated in the recent meeting held in the ministry that capacity of existing grids of District Dera Bugti was not enough to cater the load demand of the area therefore it was necessary to initiate work simultaneously on the grids station.
According to the well-placed sources the QESCO has also requested additional funds for grids at Dera Bugti and Sui from the government of Balochistan.
The sources said that the proposed project would help to electrify most of the villages and towns of district Dera Bugti and will improve the socio-economic condition of the population of the area besides, stimulate business, investment opportunities, industrial development and employment opportunities in the area.
The sources said that in Balochistan there are 14398 villages while the pace of villages' electrification is very slow due to shortage of the funds.
According to the details, only 43 per cent of villages have so far been electrified in the province whereas in other provinces ratio of village electrification is more than 80 per cent.
The government of Pakistan and Balochistan is very conscious of the fact and was endeavouring to utilise the available resources to supply this basic necessity to the rural masses.
