Protesting the state of emergency in the country NWFP lawyers continued their protest for the 2nd consecutive days and announced to start Jail Bharo Tehreek and establish hunger strike camps at lower court from today (Wednesday).
The lawyers in a joint meeting of Peshawar High Court Bar Association and District Bar Association at PHC Bar Room reiterated to continue their protest drive till restoration of constitution and chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudry, saying that lawyers were united and would remain firm to continue their protest till end of military rule in the country.
Addressing to lawyers' general body, senior lawyers Essa Khan, Qazi Muhammad Jameel, Syed Muhammad Iqbal, Lal Jan, Kafayatullah, Syed Ateeque, Lalbar Khan, Jamal Khattak and Fida Gull termed the emergency in the country as 'illegal and unconstitutional' step of General Musharraf saying the step taken by General Musharraf had made 'mockery' of the constitution.
The lawyers urged upon the advocate general NWFP to reject the official job and joined the lawyers' community in their struggle of restoration of real democracy, supremacy of constitution and rule of law in the country.
They also called upon the political leadership to play their due role otherwise nation would not forgive them. Paying rich tributes to the all the judges who refused to take oath under new Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) the lawyers said they had played a great role to save Pakistan's image at international level which was badly damaged by imposition of emergency in the country.
The lawyers also termed the sitting parliament as 'Rubber stamp' and urge the members to resign and join lawyers' move against military ruler and his supporters who they said had put the country's integrity at stake.
Senor lawyer Qazi Anwar advocate through his telephonic address to the lawyers said that no action of the government could demoralised the lawyers as their moral was high then the past. He said that there was no rule of law in the country while chaos like situation had been prevailed in the country.
