The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Tuesday pledged to hold it scheduled public meeting on November 9 in Rawalpindi despite all odds. Local leaders of PPP, while talking to journalist during their visit to Liaquat Bagh to review the arrangements for the public rally to be addressed by Benazir Bhutto, expressed their firm resolve to hold their scheduled meeting.
The PPP leaders who visited Liaquat Bagh include Zumarad Khan MNA, Amir Fida Paracha MPA, Qazi Sultan Mehmood, Sardar Saleem, Rashid Nasim Abbasi, Abdul Salam Butt, Raja Altaf, Babu Idrees and Rashid Mir.
They said that the public rally would be held as per schedule. We hope that the government would allow PPP to hold public meeting, adding that PPP has already submitted an application to the District Nazim for permission.
Zumarad Khan said that a special force comprising 500 workers has been constituted to guard Benazir Bhutto. "Jan Nisaran-e- Benazir" would take the charge of Liaquat Bagh on November 8, he said. It was also decided that the party workers would not hold any rally or procession due to prevailing political situation in the country. Only public gathering at Liaquat Bagh would take place on Friday.
