Chairman Surgical Instrument Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP) Aamir Riaz Bhinder has said the surgical industry of Pakistan has appealed to the President, Prime Minster and Chairman FEB to impose immediate ban on exports of surgical forgings in unfinished, semi-finished products immediately.
In a press statement issued here he said that the industry is facing multiple problems including increase in utility prices, non-availability of raw material etc and for the past few months, some suppliers, with the help of customs officials, are exporting surgical forgings, un-finished and semi-finished surgical products to India at 25 percent regulatory causing loss to industry.
The chairman Surgical Association said that the industry demands imposition of 200 percent regulatory duty on exports of forgings. He said that in May 2007, the CBR officials assured us for taking proper steps to counter this trend, but unfortunately, the same could not happen.
The industry is being destroyed through miss-declaration and under-invoicing and the 2300 surgical manufacturers and exporters of Sialkot demanded immediate action from the Government in that regard, Aamir Bhinder said.
