The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has stopped students from entering the university because they wanted to protest the emergency. The administration had disallowed students lacking LUMS identity cards, even the press and media persons were not allowed to enter who were invited by the students for the coverage of the protest.
The administration also deployed police who forcefully stopped media men to enter in to Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) premises on Wednesday noon and manhandled and torture who try to cross the main entrance gate.
The LUMS students had invited the media to cover a protest, which they had staged inside the premises of LUMS against the imposition of emergency. However, when the media had reached their story was very much different. Initially, LUMS security officials stopped the reporters, photographers and cameramen to enter in to university premises. Latter the media person contacted top management of the university and asked them to ask the security official to allow for entry.
After getting permission from top management the security allowed some of media men to enter as they received permission call from top management, but this point of time police officials who were initially asking media to abstain from entering LUMS had started pushing the media away from university jurisdictions.
