Multan Union of journalists (MUJ) on Sunday protested against the expulsion of three journalists namely Isambard Wilkinson, Collin Freeman and Daniel Macelroy, for Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper.
Presiding over a meeting of MUJ here on Sunday Nadeem Shah said," we express concern on the restrictions of electronic media, gagging the press and we demand for allowing freedom of expression and press.
Almost all the journalists wore black armbands while performing their duties and a black flag was hoisted atop of Press Club to express anger against suspension of Private TV channels transmissions.
The meeting was also addressed by Abdul Sattar Qamar former Assistant Secretary General of PFUJ, Rana Abdul Sattar, Nasir Abbas Zaidi, Amjad Ali Bukhari, Hameed-ul-Hassan, Muhammad Ijaz Tareen, Maqbool Bukhari, Jamshed Rizwani, General Secretary of Press Club.
It may be recalled that Pakistan's government on Saturday ordered three journalists namely Isambard Wilkinson, Collin Freeman and Daniel Macelroy, for Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper to leave the country because of their "foul and abusive language" against its leadership. They have been told to leave the country within 72 hours.
