Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has made all arrangements to launch fourth phase of Tevta Special Training Programme (TSTP) to train further 25,000 semi-skill workers in the selected institutes throughout the province of the Punjab.
The decision in this regard has been taken after studying the results of three phases of TSTP during the last nine months, stated in a statement by Secretary Tevta Muhammad Arshad Bhatti.
Bhatti said that on the recommendations of industry and in accordance with the policy of the government, Tevta had introduced a Special Training Programme (TSTP) to produce 100,000 semi-skilled force for the industry. More than 75,000 semi skilled workers, during the ongoing year have already been trained in three phases. Another number of 25,000 internees would be admitted in fourth and final phase of 3 months short courses in different trades. It would help achieve the objectives of meeting with the emerging demand of skilled workers for industry. It would also enhance the employability of youth belonging to lower income group of the society.
While explaining the details of the training programmes, the Secretary Tevta said, "Our all programmes are market oriented and youth is being trained in employable skills. We have also developed a system for the provision of jobs to our pass outs according to the level of their learning. Maximum number of our pass outs are adjusted in the local industry." In this way Tevta is helping poor and unskilled youth to become a useful member of society, he said. It is being done by utilising efficiently available facilities at existing Tevta institutions across the province, Bhatti said.
Having a strong network of more than 411 institutes across the province of the Punjab and base of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority, Tevta has now introduced Matric Technical Scheme at selected Tevta institutes in 35 districts of Punjab. Students are being offered different technical trades as an optional subject like electronics, welding, refrigeration and air conditioning, electrical, auto mechanic and computer for boys while tailoring and dress making and computer are being offered to girls. Punjab Board of Technical Education would award certificates to the pass outs.
