Hashmi urges political parties to shed differences

Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, acting Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-N has called upon all the political parties to shed their differences and forge unity on one point agenda of getting rid of General Pervez Musharraf who infringed upon the basic human rights.
Talking to his daughter Memona Hashmi in Mianwali prison Javed Hashmi vehemently condemned the arrest of a large number of lawyers and political activists of PML-N, MMA, and PPP. Javed Hashmi was optimistic that the lawyers fraternity will never compromise on the murder of judiciary on November 3 and movement for the restoration of judiciary will continue till the restoration of deposed judges and removal of the PCO.
Javed Hashmi, who was arrested from his Multan residence at the time of imposition of emergency on Saturday, said the government wants to threaten the lawyers and the civil society by sending judges and senior lawyer leaders to far-flung areas or by spreading rumours.
He said: "It doesn't matter where I have been or I would be kept in prison by the dictator, who breaches the Constitution twice and humiliated the judiciary many times." Hashmi said it was a great misconception on the part of the Musharraf regime that by putting thousands of lawyers, civil society members and political party activists in prison and by torturing them, it can avoid the massive resistive movement against their unconstitutional moves.
"Lawyers are already protesting and fighting against the dictatorship," Hashmi said and added: "The day we will come out of prison we will join the already fighting lawyers and will intensify the movement to restore the judiciary."
"We want the rule of law, rule of the Constitution, an independent judiciary and a free media, holding of free, fair and impartial elections and we will fight for this till the last drop of our blood.
We will bring those in the circle of law who have breached the Constitution on November 3 and violated the article 6 of the Constitution," he said. "To escape from the criticism on his unconstitutional act Musharraf has banned not only private TV channels but also international TV channels, he added.
"Was international media also showing the wrong face of the picture," Hashmi questioned. He said Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was the real chief justice of Pakistan. "I and the whole nation salute all the 13 judges who refused to take oath under the PCO. He said they are all great judges and are still the judges of the Supreme Court," Hashmi said, adding: "The whole nation will become united to restore the real judges of the Supreme Court as it does not accept those as judges who took oath under the PCO."
