The District Co-ordination Officer Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri has constituted a vigilance committee headed by EDO Agriculture Hyderabad Shujauddin Siddiqui to expedite pace of development works for lining of water-courses under "National Programme for Improvement of Water Courses (NPIWC)" in the district.
The DCO Hyderabad also warned the officers concerned to achieve the annual targets for lining of 80 water courses by the end of this financial year, failing which action would be taken against responsible officers and farmers Associations.
Presiding over the meeting for reviewing the pace of development work of NPIWC at his camp office last night, the DCO Hyderabad directed for constitution of three teams, two for getting the targeted water courses lined and one to resolve old disputed problems or remaining works of the last year.
Taking serious notice of obstacles and hindrance created by some farmers Associations for starting their construction works, the DCO Hyderabad appointed Mukhtiarkar Taluka Hyderabad Rural as co-ordinating officer and directed him either to get the work on troubled water courses started or recover the government funds back from unwilling farmer Associations, failing which FIR be lodged against them.
He directed the officers to give weekly progress report on regular basis while referring some technical problems in lining of approved water courses, the DCO Hyderabad directed the officers concerned, either to cancel or replace the water course, not feasible for lining work.
The DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri expressed his dissatisfaction over social mobilisation and directed officers concerned to adopt an effective strategy for the awareness of farming community to make this farmers' participatory development programme more success.
