Kenya tea prices were mixed at this week's auction, with some grades holding steady and others easing slightly, traders said on Wednesday. Mombasa-based Africa Tea Brokers (ATB) said 122,071 packages were offered for sale, with 13,382 unsold.
At last week's sale, 110,740 packages were offered for sale, with 8,450 left unsold. "There was good demand for the packages on offer. The biggest buyers this week were Egypt Packers, Pakistan Packers and Russia, while Afghanistan, Yemen and other Middle Eastern countries recorded strong enquiries," exporting firm James Finlay said in a market report.
Best BP1s fetched $3.02-$3.31 per kg, compared with $3.05-$3.25 per kg at last week's sale. Best PF1s sold at $1.90-$2.28 per kg compared with $1.90-$2.52 at the previous auction.
