The Punjab University will help its affiliated colleges in affiliation process and will set a standard of quality education for these institutions so that these educational institutes can play their vital role in promotion of education.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Butt said this while chairing a meeting of the Punjab University Affiliation Committee here on Friday. Chairman affiliation committee Dr Javed Ahmad told the VC that at present university has affiliated 494 colleges for 907 academic programmes where over 300,000 students are getting education.
He said the committee inspected 250 colleges annually and renews affiliation of the college based on performance and standard of education whereas the committee cancels affiliations of colleges those don't show performance. The committee had cancelled affiliation of such 80 colleges.
Arif Butt on the occasion appreciated the performance of affiliation committee and said that it is necessary for promotion of quality education that only such institutes be given affiliation of PU that stands fit for university standard. He said that each affiliated college must be like a university campus based on quality education. He directed the committee to proceed against illegal institutes occurring in the jurisdiction of university.
Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Ehsan Malik and Muhammad Haris Rasheed and Deputy Registrar (Affiliation) attended the meeting. Moreover, Punjab University examination department has announced various examination results. These exams include BA in Islamic studies and Arabic with computer science (Semester System), Session 2004-2007, BSc physics (three-year programme) Session 2003-2006 and M. Phil Persian Session 2004-2006.
