A former Justice, Wajihuddin Ahmed has urged the lawyers to maintain unity and continue boycott of the Judges who had took oath under Provisional Constitutional Order, "as right will one day prevail over might".
He was addressing lawyers of Hyderabad here on Friday via telephone from Karachi. He said there was still need to carry on the struggle by lawyers for restoration of "independence" of judiciary, as they had done earlier. He said: "We do not need Pakistan of Musharraf; we need Pakistan of Quaid-i-Azam."
He said that the nation had rejected emergency and PCO, and added that elections would be farce unless impartial election commission was set up. He said if constitution and independence of judiciary and media were not restored people could "launch civil disobedience movement" against rulers.
He ridiculed celebration of completion of term of assemblies, adding that not people but only one person, General Musharraf, has taken benefit of rubber assemblies. Abdul Khaliq Leghari, vice president of Hyderabad District Bar Association, welcomed Wajih on his telephonic address to lawyers.
