eid-prayers_copyKARACHI: Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated across the country with religious zeal and fervour on Monday to mark the supreme sacrifice by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) of offering his son Hazrat Ismail (AS).

Eid prayers were offerd at Eidgahs, mosques, playgrounds and open places.

After prayers the faithful sacrificed animals in memory of the sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

Partial Eid was observed in Fata on Sunday. Following Eid celebrations in Saudi Arabia the tribesmen of Mamozai, Saif Dara, Zafar Ghari, Otmella, Kasha and Warand area of Orakzai Agency, celebrated Eidul Azha on Sunday.

Eid was also celebrated in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency and North Waziristan Agency, while it was also observed in the remote bordering areas of Mohmand Agency and Bajaur Agency Sunday.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has ordered strict security measures all over the country to prevent any act of terrorism during the occasion.

Strict security plans were set in place to avoid any untoward incident.

Trained snipers were deputed on rooftops of buildings located adjacent to important public places such as mosques, government installations, buildings and offices across the city.

The steps were taken in the wake of the rush in markets before Eid.

Eid shopping reached its climax and heavy rush of buyers thronged to the markets, shopping centres and shops. A large number of women and children were seen buying children’s garments, sweaters, socks, vests, bangles, mehndi (hena).

Sweat marts and bakeries also witnessed a lot of rush.
