Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) NWFP Branch on Friday termed the illegal stoppage of the Afghanistan bound trucks loaded of flour for the purpose of export by the personnel of Frontier Corps a conspiracy against the national export policy.
A meeting of the executive committee of the association held here with its chairman, Mohammad Naeem Butt in the chair demanded the immediate release of all trucks to ensure the implementation of the trade policy of the country.
The meeting condemned the unlawful and unjustified stoppage of the trucks carrying flour for export to Afghanistan and said that the personnel of Frontier Corps are intentionally taking step against the trade policy of the government.
The meeting was informed that despite the closure of 90 percent flour industry of the province, the recent illegal steps have played further havoc with the flour milling industry.
The meeting expressed concern over the matter that despite clear-cut directives of the federal government regarding no restriction on the exportable goods, whose best example is the export of flour to Afghanistan through Chaman border in Balochistan.
The association also passed a unanimous resolution condemning unnecessary hurdles in the transportation of wheat from Punjab and attributed it to the violation of the national food policy. The meeting warned the government that the failure of the removal of the hurdles in the wheat transportation could again push NWFP towards severe flour crisis.
