Leaders of Karachi Shehri Ittehad (KSI) feared on Sunday that transparent, free and fair elections could not be held under caretaker government, which they termed an extension of the Q-League.
These leaders including Convenor Haji Shafi Muhammad Jamote, Deputy Convenor M Siddique Awan, General Secretary Shireen Khan and Members of the Supreme Council Hakeem Baloch and Lal Bux Bhutto in a joint statement expressed concern over the neutrality of interim set-up.
They also criticised illegalities in recruitment of government jobs and alleged that thousands were given government jobs on political basis to influence coming polls.
They strongly condemned American interference in Pakistani matters. They said current policies have put the country at stake. They said due to these policies terrorism, poverty, unemployment and sectarian clashes were on the rise.
They regretted that culprits of May 12,2007 incidents in Karachi were yet to be identified, while people in Swat, Wazirstan and Balochistan were also facing great difficulties due to growing violence. They condemned restrictions on media and demanded to end ban on major private new channels.
