Chairman Earthquake Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Authority (ERRA) Altaf Muhammad Saleem inaugurated newly reconstructed building of Government Girls Primary School Bararkot in union council Garhi Habib Ullah, District Mansehra here Tuesday.
Deputy Chairman ERRA Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed also attended the ceremony. Addressing the gathering, Chairman ERRA expressed satisfaction on the successful reconstruction of another quake destroyed educational facility.
He said that this school has been completed in a short period of eight months with a cost of Rs 15 million. Chairman ERRA said that rehabilitation of educational institutions in affected areas occupies top priority on ERRA agenda as it is an important step forward in the comprehensive, effective and long lasting rehabilitation of normal life in quake hit areas.
He said that ERRA is incorporating the slogan of Build Back Better in essence in the reconstruction of education facilities and it is evident in the construction of this institution also as previously this school was working in a rented building with only two rooms and no other facility while now it consists of eight rooms, 2 offices and every other facility which has helped in increasing the enrolment from 45 to 125 at present.
He said that the school consisted of a total area of 18,800 sq ft and a covered area of 5,500 sq ft Altaf Muhammad Saleem lauded the meaningful and productive role of private sector in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of earthquake hit areas. Elaborating upon ERRA's activities in affected area Altaf Muhammad Saleem said that completion of this school is in line with ERRA's efforts to mainstream the affected population through speedy rehabilitation of education sector.
He said that the reconstruction of this facility is more relevant now as winter has already set in and by the completion of this facility ERRA has fulfilled another popular demand of the people to reconstruct institutions before winter.
Now students will be able to continue their education in a modern and far better equipped environment, which will help improve overall results and standards of education, he added.
Chairman ERRA said that this institution is another milestone in ERRA's efforts to rehabilitate life in the affected areas and this improved facility will be instrumental in increasing the enrolment.
