Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan said he would boycott India's cricket matches after he was accused of using cricket events to promote his films. Khan's comments followed reports in the Indian media quoting officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as saying the actor was making appearances at the games only for publicity.
"I watch cricket because my children love it. I don't think it can be so strange that just because I am popular, I can't take my children to watch a spectator sport without creating some kind of ill will," Khan said. "I am not going to see India's matches at grounds in the future," Khan told reporters on Tuesday.
"God has given me enough and I don't crave publicity," the actor said. The BCCI reacted swiftly saying it has "no objection if any film star watches any of the matches involving the national team", the Press Trust of India reported.
