Indonesian palm oil prices were mixed on Thursday, given some support by gains by Malaysia crude palm oil futures, while uncertainty over subsidies for cooking oil put pressure on the olein market.
Crude palm oil at the state marketing centre in Jakarta was sold at 8,083 rupiah ($0.862) a kilogram, barely moved from 8,089 rupiah a kilo on Wednesday, free on board Belawan port in Sumatra island. Producers in North Sumatra's Medan sold crude palm oil at 8,080 rupiah ($0.862) a kilogram, up from 8,050 rupiah a kilo on Wednesday.
"Malaysia's crude palm oil futures gained slightly today and the rupiah is softening. This helped local prices to gain," said a palm oil dealer in Medan, the key port for palm oil exports.
