Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been instrumental in curbing human smuggling and checking violation of Copy rights and Intellectual Property Rights, said Director General FIA Tariq Pervez on Friday.
Addressing a ceremony held in connection with the promotions of 178 FIA employees after 30 years, he said the efforts of Pakistan against human smuggling has been acknowledged at world level. He said the FIA was given three main objectives to overcome human smuggling, ensure implementation on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Copy rights.
Regarding human smuggling, DG, FIA said up to 24,000 Pakistanis were illegally sent to foreign countries in 2005 but the figure reduced to 14,000 in 2006 and 10,000 during the current year.

" Due to efforts of FIA, a significant improvement has been made, which was acknowledged at international level," he added.
Tariq Pervez said Pakistan has been omitted from the 'watch-list' regarding human smuggling and IPR. Director General congratulated the employees for getting promotion and said these promotions have been made purely on merit rather than considering approach.
