The government will install 'High Volume Instrument (HVI)' machines under the 'Clean Cotton Program', to monitor the quality of cotton. Sources told Business Recorder here on Friday that the government would install 10 HVI machines in different cotton growing districts.
Of these, six will be installed in Punjab and four in Sindh, depending on crop intensity in cotton producing districts. Provincial government's consideration will also be a decisive factor in this regard", they added. These machines will make the ginned cotton free of contamination, sources said.
They said that Rahim Yar Khan has already been declared as 'clean cotton district'. 'Clean Cotton Program' was initiated by the Ministry of Textile Industry in collaboration with Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) to produce contamination-free cotton.
This program is specially designed to encourage the farmers as they will be awarded Rs 50 per maund if their produce is free of contamination, sources said.
