A meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Northern Areas Major Qamar Zaman Chaudhry (retd) approved scheme for reconstruction of destroyed irrigation channels in quake-affected areas of Kundus in Ghangche district. On this occasion, officials of the concerned departments were also present.
The meeting was told that 21 irrigation channels were destroyed during the quake while these would be reconstructed before April 2008. Later, Deputy Commissioner Ghangche, Syed Mohammad Hadi told PPI that those channels would be reconstructed before the start of the sowing season.
He said a scheme for the beautification of KhapluTown DHQs of Ghangche district had been approved in the meeting. He said work on the Khplu Town beautification project would start during the coming year. He said owners of the private lands would also be compensated and for this purpose, a scheme worth Rs 50 million had been approved.
