Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and former Punjab chief minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif submitted their nomination papers here for NA-120 and NA-119. Numerous political leaders, their supporters and other candidates gathered at the offices of returning officers.
The other candidates who filed their nomination papers for the National Assembly are acting party President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi (NA-127), PPP Secretary General Jahangir Badar (NA-120), Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman (NA-122), Liaqat Baloch of Jamat-e-Islami (NA-126), Hafiz Salman Butt (NA-188), Farid Parracha (NA-121), Sheikh Idrees (NA-126), Rohail Asghar (NA-124), Ashiq Diyal (NA-130), Naveed Ashiq Diyal (NA-130), Javed Amin Khan (NA-125), Faisal Rasool (NA-125), Rafiuddin (NA-125) and Ramazan Chaudhry (NA-129).
For the election of the Provincial Assembly those who filed their nomination papers are: Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, son of former chief minister Pervez Elahi, (PP-152), Mian Fayaz (PP-151), Khurram Asghar (NA-145), Ali Asghar (PP-146), Muhammad Jahangir (PP-160), Rana Muhammad Tariq (PP-161), Naveed Ashiq Diyal (PP-157), Tahir Khaliq (PP-148), Ijaz Qayum Butt (PP-147), Shakil Ahmad Pasha (PP-155), Chaudhry Waqar (PP-156), Muhammad Aslam Bhatti (PP-156), Yasin Rasool (PP-155), Dr Ilyas (PP-155), Yaqoob Bhatti (PP-155), Muhammad Aslam Bhatti (PP-156) and Rana Khalid (PP-159). Some lawyers stoned the procession of Chaudry Moonis Elahi but police managed to deal with the situation.
