Australia has offered technical know-how to Pakistan for increasing production of grapes, contributing to efforts being made for poverty alleviation of small farmers. Australian High Commissioner in Pakistan, Ms Zorica McCarthy made this offer in a meeting with Caretaker Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock (Minfal), Prince Esa Jan Baloch here on Monday.
The High Commissioner also offered training in Australian institutions related to grapes farming in the province of Balochistan to keep small farmers abreast with the latest technology.
It was decided in the meeting that Australian farmers would also visit Pakistan to learn about the technologies being used for boosting the agriculture sector, a high official in the Minfal told to Business Recorder.
Both the dignitaries also decided to continue collaboration in the fields of livestock (diary) and horticulture (citrus and mango) to enhance the capacity of the Pakistan research, development and extension system to deliver targeted and practical research outputs to promote agribusiness.
