Azad Jammu and Kashmir, President, Raja Zulqarnain Khan has urged the British Kashmiri Diaspora to work together for the cause of right to self-determination for the people of the occupied territory.
Speaking at a reception hosted in his honour by a former overseas MLA Chaudhry Muhammad Khan in West London district of Southall on Sunday evening, the AJK President proposed formation of an all British councillors forum for mobilising the parliament members to further the cause of Kashmir.
He noted that there were more than 190 Kashmiri and Pakistan-origin councillors in the various district governments of the UK and they could play a very important role in reaching out to MPs of their respective constituencies on the issue of Kashmir. The President appealed to all Kashmiris living in UK to extend complete support to Kashmir Centre London irrespective of their personal political affiliations.
Khan gave an in-depth analysis of the Kashmir dispute and observed that the right to freedom or right to self-determination does not die with the passage of time. He said that the United Nation's resolutions continue to remain valid. Demilitarisation of entire AJK will be reciprocated if India agrees to do the same. This is the major step to stop human rights violation in Kashmir. Chaudhry Muhammad Khan welcomed the AJK President and described him as a source of great inspiration and a real democrat.
He stated that the issue of Kashmir was a matter of life and death and it must be solved in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Professor Zafar Khan welcomed the hosting of 3rd International Peace Conference being organised by Justice Foundation Kashmir Centre London later this week.
He applauded the idea of a debate between diverse voices. Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, Executive Director, JFKC, praised the sagacity and wisdom of the AJK President. He declared to set-up a UK based Jammu and Kashmir self-determination cell to highlight cause of the disputed territory.
